NEW PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE - 2008-PRESENT

Huron Football League: 1989-2003 (see below)

    The Pioneer League was established in 1969. Charter members were DE SOTO and GARDNER (previously JAYHAWK II) plus TONGANOXIE (formerly of the BIG 5) and previously Independent schools OSAWATOMIE, PAOLA and LANSING. Outside of the addition of ANDERSON COUNTY (GARNETT) in 1974 this league had no other changes. The league disbanded in the general re-alignment of schools in this area after 1982. GARNETT returned to Independent status. OSAWATOMIE, PAOLA and GARDNER joined the FRONTIER League while LANSING, TONGANOXIE and DE SOTO entered the KVL.

Pioneer Football League: 2008  (Version 2)

      Charter members of this league that revived the old name Pioneer are PRAIRIE VIEW, OSAWATOMIE, CENTRAL HEIGHTS(RICHMOND), WELLSVILLE, and ANDERSON COUNTY (GARNETT) from the FRONTIER. JAYHAWK-LINN (MOUND CITY) came from the THREE RIVERS League as the 6th member.

Huron Football League: 1989-2003

      The HURON League was formed when BONNER SPRINGS and TURNER-K.C. left the EKL and joined with WARD-K.C. and SUMNER-K.C. who had left the KCKL. This was a short lived league that gained two more members in 1991 when Independents ATCHISON and OTTAWA joined the group. BONNER SPRINGS joined the KVL in 2002. ATCHISON and TURNER-K.C. have remained an Independent since the league disbanded. WARD-K.C. was allowed into the KVL. SUMNER-K.C. returned to the KCKL.
